Tonight, I gave some freinds a ride home, one of them was a 360lb ex football player. On my way home on the freeway I hit this stupid bump and messed up my rear bumper because of my wide tires.

Both of the plastic tabs that hold the front part of the bumper to the chassis broke.

Looks like someone needs a wide body kit laugh

Bummer man! You wouldn't think it would do that much damage. Thanks for the heads up. I wonder if 225's would do the same?

I was running 225/45-17s and they rubbed also. I ende up going to 215/45-17s. Now no rub. This was with H&R's and with the BAT sport springs.

Same thing happened on my driver's side as well, and I've got 215s!!!

Dave, what actually happens is the inside edge of the tire hits the wheel liner, which causes the bumper ends (where it attaches to the chassis) to flex inwards toward the wheel well, thus touching the outside part of the tire and doing damage.

I've managed to rub big holes through my wheel liners, and now I have no problems w/ rubbing, so the bumper doens't flex inwards now either.

Check your wheel liner, bet you're rubbing a hole through it w/ the inside part of the tire.

Yeah looks like the liner is all chewed up on the inside. Any to fix this?

Man, I love the way the 235s give the car a meaty stance, but I hate the rubbing.

I have Wietec springs with a 30MM drop and I actally want to lower it some more, but doesn't look like I'm going to be able to do it with the 235's frown

My only rubbing was on the very outer edge of the metal mounting tab for the rear bumper's forward most tabs on either side. No inner wheelwell liner rubbing at all. I tapped them outward a bit and now I only rub on the hardest of bumps with Roush spring (1.2" drop). After I do about a 1/4" of metal trimming tomorrow, I'll have no rub at all with my crappy Kumho Escta Supras in their 235/40/17 size wrapped around 17X7 Superior Scoundrels.

Dave,

99+ above Contours have different wheel liners, hence why Brad doens't rub w/ his...

Only fix is the revised wheel liners. Get in touch w/ Bill J. after he's active again after his move to Vegas.
