I have stock E1 rims. I have 2 tires that are shot due to poor allignment on my Tour. I had a couple of questions.

Can I run 215/55's on my stock E1 rims. They came with 205/55 but wouldn't mind going a little wider if I could.

Also I only need to replace 2 tires at this time, would it throw anything off if I ran 215/55s in the back and the 205/55 in the front until I need to switch the other 2.

Thanks for any guidence you can give me

Neil,
uhm, well I clicked on #1-4 and found these answers were unrelated to Coors question. Sure they helped with him going to a wider tire but what about this question?

I don't have the answer but I'm just hoping Coors goes with some Good quality tires so he can launch better laugh

thanks Neil.

Iron Mike, just cause you have some freakishly fast stock SVT, doesn't mean you can make fun of my launches. Do you still have those tires from when you did the wheel spin with your e-brake on, Like I said I only need two tires. Let me know. laugh

215/55R16 is an uncommon size for the SVT. I haven't heard of anyone using it. You may want to go to the tire calculator to get an idea about how it will fit. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Much more common are the two factory sizes, 205/55R16 used in both 98's and 215/50R16 used on 99 and newer cars. There are also several of us that have 225/50R16.

It should not be a problem to have a larger size on either the front or rear until you need two more tires. It is a common practice.
