From what I've heard, they are some of the best winter tires out there. I believe they are of Scandinavian origin (one of them really cool countries north of Germany) so they probably know how to make winter tires.
Probably the most important thing to know is how much tread is left. Many winter tires have a special compound on the first few 32nd's of tread, but revert to a more tradition rubber compound as the tread wears out. The special compound helps on ice, so once it's gone, the tires are not really anything special after that.
