Looking into buying a set of 215 / 50 / 16's .. and need some opinions on these tires. Has anyone used them? .. good or bad.

Nate- I ran these on my 95SE a few sets of tires ago. These are a harsh riding tire that is "old" technology. Decent grip in both dry and wet but many tires are much better these days. Can't come near the KDW in performance.

I have them...while they can't match the KDW in the Summer, they kick the crap out of them in the winter. It's more of an all-season radial that is speed rated.

They are good for the price (check tirerack)

I gots em! For the $67/tire that I paid from Tire Rack I think it would be hard to beat em.. I don't autocross or anything, but I'm plenty happy with em for spirited street driving.

That was a common tire on Cougars and they worked well on them. I have also seen them used often as a replacement tire on Mark VIII's for someone that is both value minded and performance minded. They don't ride quite as soft (but nearly) as the original Michelins, but they handle better and last longer. I agree though that they are older technology. The KDWS is an all season tire that does everything that tire will do and more.

Thanks guys, I'm looking into a few other tires also, I want to keep the price down a little.. however, want something that has the maximum amount of traction. I'm not worried about milage that much at all. I'm thinking 225's over the stock 205's. I need to get more to the ground. I'm running a 105 shot of NOS through it and the 205's on it now just aren't likeing it at all.. I spin all the way up through 1st and 2nd and stop at about 3 grand in third.

Yes, he said he would like to keep cost down....

Jim, I looked at the KDWS, but they were too bloody expensive for me. Ended up getting kuhmos 712s in the 225/50/16 on cougar rims. I REALLY like these, and they were 33% less expensive...

BTW, I got some slight rub yesterday with four people in the car. Passenger side wheel well cover has a rub mark. But not the driver side? So it seems 225/50 16 is very tight with a 46 mm offset. And my car is not lowered...
