Does anyone know what the lightest wheels available for contours are? (at least for under $300/wheel) I'd like to stay with 16' because of the horrible Michigan roads...

Just go with the OZ Supperleggera in 17in., they weigh 15.4 lbs. and a 215/45/17 should give you plenty of protection. The rim retails for $280 per wheel from Tirerack, so it's already cheaper than you expected, plus it'll look much better than 16's. I weighed one of my wheels last weekend full of air, it was 42lbs., so this would be a substansial loss in overall weight.

A tire typically weighs about 20 pounds... so the Superleggra w tire would be about 35 pounds, still lighter than stock.

My friend has them, they look nice, and he gets asked about them all the time.

Yeah, I agree with you on the total weight. I once weighed a 225/40/18, just for a good idea on 18in. wheel/tire combo, it weighed in at 23lbs., so a seventeen in that size should weigh around 20. Still, 35-36lbs. compared to 42 is a great loss of mass, don't cha think?
