FYI, all Contour are FWD.

If your old tires are not worn evenly (inside or outside of tire is bald) or your car pulls to one side of the road or the other, then get an alignment. Otherwise, just enjoy your new tires.

How many miles on your 'tour? Good idea to get alignment checked regularly, especially if you drive on rough roads. Why wait until the tire wear is obvious.

In this case, he's replacing tires that are probably not brand new. It's an easy way to tell for free. If the tire shop does alignments and checks for free, then have it checked.
