Well, got my new tires installed today (Bridgestone RE730s). However, one the way home, I thought the car handled like crud. It didn't feel like the car wanted to go in the direction that I pointed it. It felt like I was driving my wife's SUV, the car didn't want to catch and turn.

When I got home, I let the car sit for three hours, then noticed that the air pressure in each was 40+psi. Would this have caused my sensation?

I'm going to adjust the pressure in the morning, and take it for a spin, but wanted some input from the experts. Thanks.

You've got it. Many tire shops use extra pressure when mounting the tire to help ensure that the bead seals well to the rim. Let your pressure down to normal in the a.m. and it should feel better.

It's more fun to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow.

It depends. If you have a low profile tire they need higher pressure usually.Wide tires can also "track" more over road irregularities.

I like the tires now that I have "fixed" the tire pressure (33f / 30r). I still am going to play with the pressure to find the optimal setting. The 33/30 was what I used with my Firestone SZ50s. However, I think the SZ50 handled a little better than the RE730, but I have a little more "testing" to do this week before I make a final judgement call.

Ryan- Give your tires a few hundred miles to scrub in. Guarantee they will feel much better.

Ryan, I have RE730's in 215/45/17 0n my Porsche 924S and they are fantastic. Very good feel on dry surface, and they don't seem to give up too much on wet. I like them.

It is not uncommon for new tires to not have quite the same "on center" feel until they wear in a little. They will usually settle in better in a couple of thousand miles or less. Part if the condition is because the new tires are still very flat across the tread. As the edges wear on the front tires a little you should notice a difference. You will sometimes notice the same thing immediately after rotating the tires as well.

Thanks for all of the input. I guess I'll give the tires a chance, and let them break in before I start "complaining"...

Wow, I really like CEG, you guys/gals are GREAT!
