Contour Enthusiasts Group Archives Forums Modifications Wheels & Tires Anyone ever try Dayton Daytona ZR tires?

I can get a set of 4 Daytona ZR's (made by Bridgestone/Firestone) for $96/each from a local tire dealer. I was originally looking at both the Firestone Firehawk SZ50 EP or the Bridgestone Potenza RE730's, but stumbled across the Dayton's just today. I'm wondering if it's a performance diamond in the rough selling at a bargain price under the Bridgestone's Dayton brand? Or is it truly a step below the other 2 Firestone/Bridgestone tires I'm looking at?

Has anyone used this tire, and if so how have you found its performance to be? I'm wondering how they'd stack up against the SZ50's or 730's, or even against the stock Goodyear GSC's.

I'd be putting these on my 98 SVT in 205/55-16.

My g/f has them in a 185/60/14. The aren't as good as the D60A2s that were on her car before, also, they seemed like they still had mold release on them as they had NO turn in or grip for about 2500 miles.
For $100/tire, you should be able to do better.

I think your girlfriend's tires must be either the Dayton HR's or S/R's. Only reason I say that is that the ZR's aren't even made in 185/60-14 size (in fact, the SVT's 205/55-16 looks like the smallest size they make for the ZR). Looking at Firestone's website, both the HR's and S/R's are available in the 185/60-14 size. Thanks for replying though. -Jeff
