I was wondering what you all thought was the best summer season performance tire.
I am thinking about the following:

1.) Kumho 712 Supra
2.) yokohama AVS Intermediate
3.) Pirelli P7000

I will be using this tire for some mild autocrossing and everyday driving.
thx

IF you must choose from those tyers then pick the Yokohama AVS Sport. P7000 are all season. The absolute best tire for summer is Bridgestone Potenza S-02 Pole Position. They do die quick though. If cost is an issue again Yokohama, they are the best priced tyer in the performance market.

The S-02 Pole Position is indeed king of the
hill for balanced maximum summer performance.

The P-Zero (both variants) continue to get a
good rating for dry handling and response but
the S-02 takes it for wet handling (and wear,
compared to a tire like the P-Zero yellow).

The Michelin Pilot Sport and AVS Sport trail
these tires closely for all-round performance
with good wet capabilities.

None of the tires you listed really compete
at the high-end level; they're all good high
performance tires, just not real bad-asses. I
think the SP Sport 9000 is considered to fall
behind all of these in terms of dry grip and
responsiveness; the main SP9000 points are
handling and grip in the wet, and ride noise.

I need to start thinking about new tires as well. It is about 110 in the summer and never snows. What is going to hold up well in hot conditions? thanks.

SO-2's suck, too much wheel hop and they handle like crap. Sure they're pretty sticky but don't waste your money! I heard they were great tires, did alot of research on them and now I regret it. The Toyo T1-s is the way to go, hands down. The sidewalls are WAY stiffer than the SO-2's and with 280 treadwear they last ALOT longer than you would think. There is no easier way to increase your handling. I beat the crap out of mine and I still got 20,000. I'll be lucky to get 10,000 from the SO-2's. You can't spend a thousand dollars better!!! Remember, these tires are ultra high performance so 20,000 is pretty good.

Just trying to save you money and headaches in the long run
good luck,

Personally I thik the Michilen Pilots are about the best tires Now for the money I don't think you can beat the BFG KDW's, with a 300 wear number and all A's for the ratings it can't be beat. Plus just look at the tire, the tread pattern and the sidewall, its no contest
