I should be getting my shifter today from Jegs. Wondering if there is any advice for installation on a 98 SVT. I recall reading a couple posts that some of the E0's had some problems.

The only issude you might have could be the shifter hittin the base in 2nd and 4th. If you do have this issue, break out the Dremel....

be very carful to remove the plastic retainer on the shift mechanism..... i did break mine, first off ford didnt even have knowledge that this piece was on the contour (its was only through this board that i found the proper part # and its for a focus) 2nd fords entire inventory was out of stock when i broke mine i had to wait 2 months while the parts were manufactured and shipped from germany!!!!!!!!!!!! being as i couldnt be with out my car for this length of time i simply gehetto rigged it with a short piece of heater hose a hose clamp and some duck tape (actually this fix worked very very well, my dad couldnt even tell i did this and i put almost 4,000 miles on the car like this) in the end becareful, take your time, the ends do justify the means

Well, it went in without a hitch. Only problem I encountered was removing the torx bolts, but that was quickly solved with an air wrench. Otherwise everything else went smoothly. I understand what people say about 2nd and 4th, but I have no problems with it, and it does make it feel like a stop. Thanks for the input everybody. Just to say it once again, it's a great mod.
