SoCalSVT,
You live in southern CA? No snow? Try the Firestone SZ 50 EP's! I live in TX where it doesn't snow but every 15 or so years. It is a GREAT handling dry and wet tire and with just a stock SE Sport, I can tell the difference! This Firestone is made in Japan, FWIW. Check them out at the Tire Rack, or talk to Luke, x362.

SoCalSVT, I asked the same question with no responce, at the time i was looking to get the Kumho ECSTA 712,s with these tires the 225/45/16 is a closer match to our stock tire diameter then the 225/50/16, but the 225/45/16 are made for 7 inch to 8 inch rims and ours are 6.5 inch, but one fellow CEGer is running the 225/45/16 Kumho,s and they seem to work out great, so hopefully Luke will read this and give use both an anwser

I forgot to say that I got new wheels to go with these tires(Firestone SZ 50 EP), 16" Mille Miglia EVO's, to replace the stock 15". The tire size is 205/55-16. These tires are a bit pricey, but not the most expensive. I got them from the Tire Rack for 139 each. The wheels look great on the 'Tour and the tires handle great in the dry and the wet. The EP is for "extended performance". Call Luke at the Tire Rack at 1-888-541-1777 x362 and ask him about these tires. When I got these in July of last year, he told me that SHO's were using them in auto cross. I have had them out in some nice twisties north of Houston and also out in the Hill Country west of San Antonio. They have great grip on any road surface and when it rains, even during downpours with standing water on the freeways, going 70 mph, the tires have such good contact with the road surface that it feels like I am driving on dry pavement. I recommend these tires!

most 225's will rub in the rear on the fender lip but, a lip roll is simple to do and only takes about 2 hours.
Thanks, Luke

I second the motion. I just got Firehawk SZ50 EP's on my E0 SVT and love them. Haven't tested the limits of adhesion yet, but they're quiet, a dream in the wet, and will last a lot longer than the OEM Eagle GS-C's. As Keith says, they're made in Japan, which in this case is welcome news. Lots of technology, which means they're kind of expensive (get 'em from Tire Rack to soften the blow), but well worth it.
