I have a 97 Contour SE w/ 4 Michelin X-One's that have about 22,000 miles on them, the car itself has 89,000 miles on it. The tires themselves have a 80,000 mile treadlife warranty on them.
Anyways, I had my car in the local garage today for some work and I asked them to check out a repetitive "thumping" sound coming from what I believed to be the front passenger side tires.

Turns out the tire had a flat spot in it. So they checked the other 3, and they all had flat spots on them to varying degrees.

I get the wheels aligned about once a year as well as the tires balanced once a year. Tires rotated every 6,000-8,000 miles.

Is there any way I could have done this to the tires?

I'm compiling my rotation and alignment receipts before contacting the garage I bought them at tomorrow.

thanks for any input.

Well, I suppose you would remember if you locked up the wheels, that happened to my moms Taurus. The rear wheels locked up and were flat spotted. It was so bad that they had to be replaced from the wobbling sound.\
Hope that helps some.
