Thanks for the info, Luke. Are there any less expensive 16" wheels that would work with the SVT deal? I'm not concerned about the cosmetics.

I've been looking into the least expensive combos I can manage for the SVT with alloys of some type... I can't bear the thought of putting steel rims and caps on my baby!

The wheels and tires he listed are as cheap as you can get now. They're on special for $99 and they really look nice IMHO. The package is really cheap overall too, because you've got the Graspic's that are only 70 or so, so you're looking at about the cheapest possible route here.

I just talked to Luke and worked out a package with those wheels and more aggressive dry handling tires. It's going to cost more, but I want to be able to drive right in the dry winter as best as possible.

Luke:

How about pricing the steel wheel package with Michelin Artic Alpins instead?

Luke,

Can you please answer me a question about Michelin snow tires? Last year I purchased what I thought were Michelin Pilot Alpin snow tires from a local dealer. I actually priced these at TireRack first, but since the price at the local dealer was only a little bit more, I figured I would patronize the local business.

Anyway, I just noticed that my snow tires say only "Michelin XM+S 300". They were made in "West Germany". Are these the same as Pilot Alpins or did I get ripped off? Nobody seems to have heard of the XM+S 300 model, so I am wondering if I got some old out of date tires. (Didn't East and West Germany merge several years ago?)

Thanks.

Thanks.

the XM+S 300 is an old generation michelin snow tire that has been out of production for quite some time and is in no way a Pilot Alpin.
Thanks, Luke

Sorry, Luke - I didn't realize the Borbets were only $99. Good deal.

Just ordered the Borbets with Dunlop Wintersports... not a bad price considering it's alloys and BMW and Porsche reccomended tires! Also bought new tires for my wife's Malibu because Luke gave me such a great deal!

Thanks Luke!
