I'm out of the stock BF Goodrich tires on my 99 SVT. I got just 26K miles out of them. I'd prefer to save a little $$$ on my next purchase and maybe get a little more mileage. Can I put 225 50 16s on the stock rims (will they fit OK?). I was thinking either the Pirelli P7000 SS or the Dunlop SP 8000s. Thanks for your help. Happy Holidays!

Shaww,
If your trying to get more miles why bother going wider. You going to sacrifice more grip by going to a lower rated tire than you can gain by going one size wider. Just my two cents.

225/50/16'S will not fit into the wheel well of the car. Its too wide, in fact it will rub against the side of it. NOT too good!!! A good set of tires would be Kuhmo's and for $78 bucks per tire for W-rated its a great deal.

Thanks to all for your inputs! After making several calls locally, no one had the g-Forces in stock. I went to the tirerack.com and found 4 for $90 ea. and they are on their way. I talked to a manager of a Big O store who was familar with my drive to work (40 miles one way, most on a very crooked road) and he was impressed with the 26K miles I got from the original tires. I like the fact I bought an American made product.

Yeah, Dude! 26k is not bad at all. Some people report getting less than 20k out of their KDW's. When you consider that this is a helluva nice tire, $90 is a good deal. Sure you could get more miles per dollar out of a touring tire, but it wouldn't be anywhere NEAR as much fun!!
