Does anybody have experience with the BFGoodrich K DWS (Dry Wet Snow) tires?

I have been told the KDW tire is TERRIBLE in the snow, just like snow skis and I was wondering if the K DWS version is pretty good in snow. I'm assuming the KDWS has a different tread pattern to prevent snow from "clumping" in the tread. Any input would be appreciated.

In a word, NO. They don't work well enough for me. Try Michelene artic alpine if you can spend some money. If not try some Hokipilatas. Best snow tires on the market.

KDW=Key performance Dry/Wet

so, no

Blizzaks = best snow tires when snow and ice traction are the main concerns. Michelin Artic Alpins are good but can't compete with a blizzak in the snow and ice.

Thanks, Luke

Luke, I know the KDW are for Dry, Wet. I'm wondering if the KDWS -- Dry, Wet, Snow edition/model is good enough for snow with a very similar feel to the KDW 's I have now.

Thanks for the info guys!

My mistake, Since the KDWS model didn't come out until late spring I do not know how well they will perform in the snow but in the dry they are very nice.

Thanks, Luke

Kid's 99 SVT lives in Ft. Collins Co. and he comments that, while fair, the KDW's are not the best in snow. His TC might help also.

This from the mild winters of Cincinnati.

The only worse tire in snow than my SVT's KDWs was the older-style BFG ZR tire I had on my last car. They may as well have been Hoosier slicks.

I had very good results last winter with Pirelli P-700s on the SVT.

OF + Ned:

The tires we are trying to find out about are the new (KDWS) not KDW tires.
Check out Tirerack's site.
I think we all know that the KDW is not a snow tire!!!

I looked at it. It is probably a very adequate tire for snow and rain. As for dry performance, delangem, it will not 'feel' as good as the KDW for several reasons: the smaller treadblocks squirm more, there is no solid center rib for better steering feel, the compound is probably a good deal softer than KDW, and the shoulder of the KDWS tire is squarer than the KDW (gives better bite in snow but less predictable breakaway characteristics in the dry). Have a nice day, Rich.
