what chiboy is saying he wants a quality vehicle that wont break down on him. he has a cel on for 6 months already. and he got a hooked up to a computer and nothing came out. i agree with him. i think ford should make a quality sports sedan that wont fall apart after 3 years and can be comparible to import vehichels.

After 3 years? My car spent so much time in and out of the Ford dealership within the first year of ownership, it wasn't funny. Strangely enough, it hasn't spent ANY time in the past 2 years. So maybe we can attribute that to bad initial build quality? I dunno.

I've driven quite a few 330s and 328s. They are faster. Even the magazines times prove this. They handle better. They're quieter. They have better skidpad numbers.

Go ahead, spend lots of money to make your Contour a BMW killer, but at the end of the day, you're still driving the Hertz special. Our cars do a tremendous job, but they're not the end-all be-all that everyone makes them out to be. But they're cheap, and that definitely factors into it.

I'll take an Audi A4 1.8T with a $500 chip and blow away 90% of the modded SVTs on this board. Power, AWD, and luxury, for only a few thousand more than an SVT.. Hmmmm...

I don't drive an SVT but i guess a 95 SE is similarly close with the leather and all. Anyway, I can't say i loved it before until i really had to put some TLC into it since i was in the shop since 2000k when new....oh well...but, since my bro and sis-in-law each decided to get a performance sports sedan each; bro with 330 and sis-in-law with 2k2 A4 1.8.....i have to totally tip my hat! Can't beat the fit/finish, the over all build, LUXURY, etc..etc.. but you all knew that.
I don't think i'll part with my ford though. i think it'll always be around provided i have storage space for it. Oh well, i will always have a special place in my heart for these performance hertz rides!

Next round on me, I'm going German. You guys in or what? cheers.

Go race a 330 5speed even with your little mods you will still lose and if you do win it wont be by much. Have a nice day OJ, because you are trippin. Like I said before I love my svt too, but some of you guys think it is the holy grail.
Excuse me, did I say you would win? No..I said you'd have no trouble keeping pace, or keeping up. You see people making the contour the holy grail...and all I see is people making the 3 series bimmer the end all be all car out there. It still runs 0-60 in 6 and a half seconds, and the 1/4 in 14.8 seconds. There are plenty of cars on this board running in the 14's, and even if not you wouldn't be destroyed. And it puts a smile on my face to know that my $14k ($13,900) american grocery getter didn't back down to the 30+k bimmer with the guy who thought he was invincible in the front seat. Especially when they almost kill themselves trying to prove they're better.

I don't know if i'm going to be going the turbo or 3.0, or combination of the two, route as of yet. Even if I did, I'd still have spent less money then on any bimmer(maybe not a 318..but that doesn't count). But again, I prefer to have a car that is unique already, but more importantly that I can modify to suit my own tastes. Turn it into something NOONE else has. Yeah, so a regular contour was a rent a car....atleast every single yuppie in America doesn't drive one.

Maybe one day Antonio you'll realise there are other opininos in this world other than your own.

I like to say if someone doesn't like there SVT sell it there are alot people out there who would appreciate the performance of the car better. I bet when you first drove the car u thought the car was hype and so did I. I think u should understand that the car is getting older and the old 318 etc. are too therefore technology and demand is creating cars with better performance which are still on the platform of our car three years back

I see the point of wanting a car that has better resale value and name but you will pay for it. I bought my 99 svt for 15500.00 one year old with less than 20000 miles and I will say even with the suspesion and turbo I will have paid less than the bmw and hand it's a** on any track.

I today still receive 1000 compliments on my car by riderrs and audiences. Our cars will always have the good looks and performance of most future cars given we upgrade our cars. The only problem I see is our cars will be limited only by our front wheel drive but will continue to dominate the road course.

I have no regrets buying my car and will keep it till it totalled and later will buy me another car such as 30000k or better.

I just hate people who rag a car they once liked but because they neglected to stay up with the time there car is no longer the best.

I promise that when they buy there new cars and nobody recognizes there car two years down the line BECAUSE there one at every stop sign. Our car will be recognized because of there rare
and hard to find.

People just think the grass is greener on the other side

Cartman- I have a good friend with a A4 1.8T Quattro MTX that he bought new. It was a good 10K premium over the Contour SVT. We've compared windows stickers. His stage 2 intake/exhuast/chip setup cost him another 2K. The car will scream yes but if I but an extra 12K in a Contour it would to. Everything is relative.

If you want to compare the Contour to an Audi compare it to the A4 1.8 FWD base car which is in the same price range.

I would agree with you on that statement. That is really the only major reason I am holding on to it. People still don't know what the hell it is.

I love cars and the discussions they create. And like most others I truely enjoy the finer things in life.

It all began when I was 13 in the earily 80's with a quick $20 swap for swiss or german ball berings on my Steve Caballaro skateboard. Man did they make a difference. So smooth. So refined. And yes, faster.

If only the americans could make a car with the same precision and feel they put into the build of something as simple as a snap-on rachet.

Even american so called luxury cars like the caddy or lincoln feel like a childs fischer price toy in comparison to the european cars.

But I guess if we didn't have the poorly built north american cars to compare to the others there would be a lack of apprication for the germans.

I was thinking about dumping a couple of grand to spiff up the car. But sense caught up with me. I'll just take the cash and save up for something nicer. For now the 'tour will help me appriciate the next auto I buy just that much more.

Thanks Ford.

Preach on brother. I totally agree. The SVT tour is a great car for the money and was one of Americas best kept secrets and thats what makes it special. Its just sad that Ford did not support it and the dealerships suck azz. The quality was spotty and poor too. But you wont see yourself coming and going. When i see a SVT tour is still turn my head and say "that sure looks sweet". I do see a few in the Louisville area but most have been butchered with cloud catcher wings and 18inch chrome wheels. To each their own i guess.

The SVT tour is a stepin stone for a BMW which still is the sports sedan king. Every car company trys to shoot arrows at BMW but always miss the target. Lexus has it close with the IS300 MTX...but thats about it.

Happy motoring and enjoy your great cars.
