The only Contour that was able to beat me @ SZ '02 was piloted by him. My best was a 25.095 and he had 4 sub 25's I think and he still has a stock suspension. I have tower braces, sway bar, poly bushings, springs and struts. It just goes to show you don't need this stuff to be a great driver. Congrats. Our Contours but down some pretty great times compared to a lot higher costing machinery.

When the results get psoted, I'd like to see them. With the minor changes in the track from Saturday, I wonder if it was a longer or shorter course.
How many runs did everyone get in?
What were the times of the black Audi S4?
Tony, sorry about stealing all the instructors on Sat.

Thanks Todd, I saw your runs because I worked first thinking I was going to leave early and then didn't. I could tell you were doing a great job as was 37 and the purple Contour. I didn't see any others run because we all ran together and were stuck in the cars at the same time.
I ran 24.455, 24.547,25.004 (sideways in slalom), and on the last run 24.267. Then it got screwed up because I originally registered in G Stock because there was no SVT Stock listed when I registered. I told them at registration to change me, and they did change the number 88 but never put a name to it. Same thing happened to the Marrs last year.
Tony, went from last place last year, to win SVT modified this year with a 25.318 on his last run! Jet Mech had an awesome time considering his mud and snow, 480 wear rating, Dayton tires!!! Us old guys can still drive. I've decided to appoint myself President (until deposed)of a new organization FOGEY (Fast old guys emasculating youth). Terry Haines is the Chairman of the Board. SVTSTS, Tony, Jet Mech, and MFE are Senior V.P.s and The Mark and Dave Andrews are being groomed to take over.
BTW, the S4 with race tires ran 23.562. Steve Couture ran 23.159 in his stock Neon ACR. Larry MacLeod in a stock 200 SX SE-R ran 23.862 and J. Butts in a 2+2 old 300ZX (!!!) ran 24.188 to dominate G Stock...all with race tires. Dave, you should have stuck around. It was actually a very fun and challenging, and fairly fast course. I will post the result I have on another post.
Great meeting you guys, and sorry did not get to say good-bye to many.

TB, Charter Member of FOGEY. I like it! I think I also out drank everyone on Friday night, and was one of the first awake Saturday AM, at 9!
Don't forget that I was one of the most inconsistent, but probably the most entertaining, SVTM with a 34.x on my first run because I missed a gate and went back to get it instead of earning a DNF. (Argument on video tape, BTW), a 26.0xx, a 33.xxx when I wedged my car in the last corner, stalled, restarted, did a 3 point turn, and finally tripped the lights. Then the final run.
And yes, the most important modification, is done to the driver, not the car!

Nice sig! I would have loved to run with the 'Tours. It looked a little faster Sunday with one less soloam cone and a longer starting straight. Saturday, the S4 ran a 23.999 and 23.989 on V700's. Aaron

But I did it during the school sessions on Saturday so not as embarrassing for me. Todras - I watched your runs and you looked great! Unfortunately I wasn't able to watch most of you other guys run as a lot of us were in the 3rd heat. SVTCole - AWESOME time! I wish I could've watched you run.

SVTCole, Look out next year at SZ if TheMark shows up, he looked pretty good here at the St. Louis Evolution school in the runs I saw. It sounds like you all had a great time, I'm sorry I missed it. I will say that the Evolution Phase 2/3 combo school I took on Saturday was FANTASTIC! I was a passenger in my Miata with John Thomas, 11 time SCCA National champion in EP, and Pat Salerno also a National champion in FS. If you ever get to watch John drive, PAY ATTENTION! He is so smooooth you can't believe he is going that fast. I learned so much in those two runs. The course was fast but rewarded car control over horsepower so I got with in 1.5s of the ASP Corvette on a 45 s course and the driver is very good in the Corvette. I went from 49.242s to 45.900s, so I learned enough in those two runs to drop 3 seconds. If anyone ever gets the oppurtunity to attend the Evolution schools when they come to your area, jump at it. I'm pretty sure TheMark will back me on this one.
Respectfully, Andy Hohl

I am behind Andy 100% on this one, folks. If any of you are passionate about AutoXing, then this is the best thing you can do for yourself. These instructors turned my world upside-down. I drove 500 miles to attend this school, and after taking this class, I am willing to drive twice that far to do it again. And I WILL do it again.
You want to improve? You want to drop your times? You want National Champions shotgun with you while you run through the cones, giving you their input? This is the ONLY way to go! I learned more in two days than I could have picked up in a decade of events on my own. I cannot emphasize enough what a difference this will make for you.
I also was blessed by being a passenger as John Thomas piloted my Contour. He is unbelievably smooth. It was such a treat.
On a side note: I have now had 4 National Champions drive my car through the cones, and, without exception, every one of them has walked away impressed with the car's capabilities, balance, and brakes.
As to my own driving prowess in comparison to SVTCole's... I am not so sure I could have dipped so low on the timesheet. Especially on street tires. My congratulations to SVTCole on the fine drive. Oh, and the guy you are going to have to look out for is Jerry A. He took the Evo school as well, and he has smooth down like nobody's business. He will be turning heads very soon, I assure you.

FOGEY... Do I have to give up the DRPA? (dirty rotten pri##s of america). :p It was great running with all of you. Watch out if I ever get some real tires! The Neon and the Nissan both had slicks. Cheatin bastages!! Book says the the tread is supposed to have "non-zero measurable tread depth at two point 180 apart" I know they didn't have that. Hope all your rides home were uneventfull. I am still loopy (not to say I wasn't before) cya cp
