I am going to my first autocross in my 98 SVT this weekend in Atlanta. I just got a set of Kuhmo Victoracers (225/50R16). I was wondering what would be good pressures to start at. I have autocrossed before but, never in a front wheel drive and never with race tires. I would appreciate some advice, and hope to see some other contours out there on Sunday.

No offense but I think we've beaten this subject to death. If you do a search in this forum on tire pressure, you'll find everyone's opinion.

And it is opinions, almost everyone says something different. I'd say try it all and see what works from there.

Good luck at your AutoX, hope you catch the bug.

I use Kuhmo's for autocross and on a Mazda MX6 the pressures I used were 36 in the front and 30 in the rear. I have yet to try my Contour in autocross so it could be different for that car, but that's just my opinion. Peace

Man, I hope you don't plan to drive those things on the street. I think they have a wear rating under 100! Not sure how to answer since i've never run race tires on the Contour.

I just ordered 4 Kuhmo 712s for my SVT, but just size 205/55 ZR16 at $72 a piece + shipping.

I think someone mentioned I should have rotated my G-Force TAs to the front to cure my understeer at the last event. Could not do that due to chord showing that I hid for the event by rolling the car back until it was on the ground. Now I have all four tires showing chord on the edge so time for new ones. At least the season is almost over so I'll have December and January to run the tires without abnormal wear from autocrossing. I think I got 6,000 miles from the G-Force TAs.
