This is a good article. And is definitely right inline with my experience. I still say you need to learn to drive the car first before you mess with too many things. Still, if you want your car to be a 1G car, there is some excellent advice there on how to go about doing it.

So who's gonna get the Contour to 1G first???? laugh eek laugh eek laugh eek

Recipe for a 1G Tour all are equal parts: Koni's, Eibach's, Stazi's 24mm rear swaybar or BAT 22mm since the Stazi bar is sold out, Subframe bushings and connectors, front and rear strut braces. A good set of race stickies and I'll bet you'll have it. Xchang has everything but the subframe connectors, rear strut brace and the stickies.
