Greetings all - I have had my 98 E0 SVT for a few months now and am loving it. My steering wheel, however, is losing its 'midnight blue' coloring around the entire rim. The color underneath is yellow! Another example of high quality Ford engineering. Anyways, has anyone replaced their steering wheel? I assume this is something difficult to do with the airbag and all. Where would someone find a replacement steering wheel anyway. I would probably want to go with a black colored wheel to match the instrument pod. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. frown frown frown

Ford didn't offer a leather wrapped wheel in my '95 LX. I replaced my regular wheel with a new wheel from Ford. I considered the SVT wheel, but preferred the thicker SE steering wheel. My car has an Atlantis Blue interior, and the SE wheel is a perfect match. The lighter blue(compared to the SVT ) would give you a nice contrast and a unique look. I don't think Ford offered a black steering wheel in the Contour, but they did offer a few different shades of blue, any of which would look decent. I have driven over 70K+ and the wheel still looks new. The dealer charged me thirty bucks to install the wheel.

Same thin is happening to mine. I have the ,IMO, ugly Midnight Blue interior and my shifter and the steering wheel started to turn a light shade of green on the undersides. I'm not surprised, the build quality of the interior wasn't very good to begin with.

Well the other options is to get an aftermarket steering wheel(MOMO,etc.)
South County Autosports SCA has the adaptor for sell that will work for your contour or Focus, but yoou must get rid of the air bag.
Just something to think of

Have you tried a good leather dye?
