That's right folks, the group-buy is here. It will be open until sunday night, at which point product will be ordered and shipped (hopefully) by Monday. Here's the deal we are offering:

Mirko Racing battery tie-down for Cougar/Contour available in anodized red, blue, or machined silver. Price per unit is $45.00 SHIPPED anywhere in the US, Canada or the UK via US Postal Service.

We will provide links below. The battery tie-downs come with the following:

(1) Mirko Racing battery tie-down
(2) Custom-machined 'sleeve nuts', color matched.

If you wish to have nuts that are a different color than your tie-down, PM me after placing your order, or make note of it in the PayPal. Also if you need to pay with something other than PayPal, please PM me.

Buy ONE ANODIZED BLUE Mirko Racing battery Tie-Down

Buy ONE ANODIZED RED Mirko Racing battery Tie-Down

Buy ONE SILVER Mirko Racing battery tie-down

Here's a link to pics:

Here's a pic of it on my battery in my Cougar:

These will fit any Contour or Cougar that has a battery tie-down that looks like the one in the below picture:

They SHOULD work with any aftermarket battery that uses the stock tie-down, unless it's a really tall battery. eek

This group buy has also been posted on NECO; you can view it here:

Why is this so special, did he lower the price or something? They sell for $45 as it is.
Which I do like, but think there priced kinda high for what they are.

$45! Someone is hitting the crack pipe again. You can buy a KKM alum. oil cap for what $25? How hard is it to manf. a tie down?! How much is it w/o being in the G/B? $80?

Thanks for the order, anything after you is just icing on the cake. If we can get 20 orders, we can drop another 5 bucks (I'll send PayPal refunds to people for that)

Well, the group buy is free shipping. Not much of a discount like I said, but free shipping is better than paid shipping. wink DC Sports sells theirs for 50 dollars in their catalog (Though you can find them for 25-30 dollars in stores) and they also look like crap. The biggest thing about a 'show piece' for under your hood is to keep it looking clean, and using your stock nuts won't do that. wink Keep in mind that while it's not necessarily super-difficult to make and design the tie-down, the sleeve nuts are custom made and threaded by hand (as well as hand polished), and that's really time consuming.

Also, if you have tens of thousands of dollars invested in a HAAS mill and lathe and want to make your own, then pay a place to anodize it for you, go ahead. wink

In any case, if you don't want one, you don't have to buy one. No point in complaining about something you're not even going to buy, right? wink There are always cheaper things to be found on the net, but I can guarantee the quality won't be as good as this, nor as much thought put into the design to make it work.

If you want some 'universal' aluminum tie-downs (may not fit correctly if at all, and you will be using stock connecting hardware to do it) look for products that APC or DC Sports sells; they're cheap and plentiful. smile If you want a well made, custom fitted item, then join this group buy. smile

Dont get me wrong, I think the Tie down looks really nice, one of the best Ive seen. There's no doubting that it's a quality piece. I seen this awhile ago, but thought it was a little pricey for what it's worth. (with that thought... any tie down) I would just hope that Mirko would see that we are the Loyal Returning Customers. We are the one's that are always waiting for him to come out with something we can buy. You cant tell me were the general public. Why not give the CEG a break. I live in SJ, does cutting shipping costs help me...

I'll send you a PM. smile And m.adair, thanks for the interest. smile PayPal links are in the first post.

I just want to note that if there are other things you guys want him to make (that he currently has the capability for, he's still searching for someone to do C/F stuff for him), feel free to PM me. DEVIOUSDEV and myself have been helping him with new products. Hell, I was there helping him design the tie-down in CAD. smile

Do both sides have the Mirko logo, or just the one side? Is the other side as pretty, just without the Mirko logo?
