After playing with the idea, and Ford finally giving me my car back yet again. I've come to the conclusion that any attempt to make this bar work will result in the back seats being rendered useless. Not that they serve a function anyway. The B pillar does not have the bolts available like the wrx. To install one would mean to drill holes in the trim. I for one think that is plausible but, Given the room it would take the bar would sit half way thru the passenger compartment in the rear. I looked at how my seat is in there at a comfortable position and decided there has to be a better way to anchor the seat belt.
Am I babbling or making sense?

You're Babbling I for one think that you're making sense. At 6.2 I am not a tall person but like to recline my seat fairly far back. I would have come to the conclusion that I can't get one to fit my driving "style."

What about full body roll bars. For looks and support. I see that APC is even making them for the Civic's. Anybody interested in making them?

(In best Yoda voice) "Do... or do not... there is no try..." I've made everything I've set out to within the time allowed. Now if only this regular job weren't in the way of me making car parts... :p Something that came up in discussion... Any reason a floor mounted bar couldn't be used with belt extensions? Much easier to build and much less intrusive into the back seat. Side benefit would be chassis stiffening...

I would totaly buy one. I have been looking for something like this for a while. I've seen the Brey-Krause bars for the Porsche guys and though there was some way we could have one as well. Track days and auto-x is WAY more enjoyable (and controlable) if your strapped in. If this happens, count me in for sure.

Hey guys -
A couple things:
We need to look a car first to make sure this can even work. W/O seeing a car I am making assumptions. If someone has a hour and is local to the Seattle area we can take a look at it and see what we can do.
KJ -
The bars we make for the Subaru guys can be made shorter or deeper depending on the height/seat position of the driver. We take all these points into consideration.
So, do you have a car in the Seattle area yet?
Thanks guy.....
Matt

I want racing seats and harnesses so I'll probably need something like this. I too am a 6 footer and like to recline. Also have concern if someone rode in the back. Would there be a possibility of severe injury in a wreck? Or would my back seat just be useless as stated before? Just need price and little more info and I'm in.
