I bet you wouldn't say that if you live here in Buffalo. I drove in times before where I had to turn off the headlights because the headlights shined up all the snow and I couldn't see as good as with just the parking light! If the PIAA driving light is brighter than the headlight, it'll definitely be a bad idea to use it as a real fog light.
Okay, enough of this...
If you guys want FOG LIGHTS, then buy the IONS.
The IONS spread the light out horizontally so you can see the SHOULDERS of the road.
You will NOT see any farther than your Headlights project with the IONS.
When I bought my PIAAs, I wanted the IONS at first.
Then I bought the SuperWhite Driving lights.
I've been driving with them for about 8 months now, I think.
These are the best things for rain and fog.
The positioning of these lights is LOWER than your headlights, so LESS light is reflected back to the windshield.
The Headlights are higher and MORE light is reflected back to the windshield.
That is why Fog Lights are mounted either LOWER or HIGHER than your line of sight.
In heavy fog or rain, I drive with JUST the PIAAs, and I leave my headlights off.
The Parking lights give just enough amber glow to light up the shoulders of the road so I don't lose track of them.
If you want Yellow, just buy the IONS.
It will be the brightest YELLOW you'll ever see.
If you want functionality, by the SuperWhites.
You won't be disappointed.
