i'd personally want the hood pretty clean, and free of vents and scoops, the ones pictured would be fine, but i would most likely just use them as a starting point for cutting the wholes to fit escort RS cosworth vents....

Dual Fiamm air horns

Yes, design is important. NACA ducts, the 'reverse scoops' are either nonfunctional or worse (open and leaky). A fresh air intake setup might be nice ('ram air'?). Other than that, a slightly bubbled hood would help airflow in the compartment and keep the intake cooler. One would think an improvement of the orig hood was in order.

Reverse scoops are not nonfunctional... They allow much of the heat to escape the engine bay. Cosworth would not be using them for years if they were "nonfunctional and leaky". Frontward scoops cannot be used for "ram air" unless the intake is specifically designed for such a purpose. With all that air coming in its just going to increase drag and blow the air all around the engine compartment with very little "ramming" into the air filter.

Was the 12-15 lbs quoted the weight of the new CF hood? Or is that how much weight we lose by changing to a CF hood?

The cable securing the springs on my garage door snapped and the springs came crashing down on my hood. The apartment will pay for replacement so I AM IN! Let me know how much and when.
