I've been planning on purchasing a valentine1 radar detector for a while.

Who here would be interested in getting in on a group buy?
Does anyone have info on if they are down with a group buy or not? i'll email them beginning of this week to see.

if you are not familiar with the V1, you should be! go here:
Valentine One radar and laser detectors cool
...to find out about the best radar detector on the market.

The retail price is $399 for the base unit, but well worth it. The remote dealy is $40 and IMO necessary.

also: how should i go about setting it up? what are some key questions to ask the V1 people? (prices, number necesary, how to expedite, others?)
thanks-
eric

"your" is possessive, "you're" is the conjunction that is short for "you are", "there" is for "the dictionary is over THERE", "their" is the possessive one, and "they're" is a conjunction that is short for "they are". have a nice day

I remember being told that V-1 doesn't do group buy's but that was 2 years ago.
If you get enough people together talk to a sales manager the might do it. But don't expect a big discount.

don't think they'll give us a great discount,if at all. I can't afford one now even w/ a discount but if it helps w/ interest for gb, the v1 is definitely the detector i want when i'm ready to buy one

...and yes, I did SEARCH first before asking.

They definitely won't do GBs.. They know they can sell every single one they make at their retail price, so they see no need to discount them.. I've got 4 of them, and god knows I've asked Jim several times about it smile

Pretty damn cool when the president of the company takes your order so that you're not stuck on hold.. It's service like that that keeps me coming back. (Plus the incredible accuracy of the detector itself)

If you're poor, try eBay. You might have luck finding one of the older models w/o laser detection, that originally cost $329, they probably are asking in the $250 range.

Have to agree with Sujeet on this one. The yca nsell em all day long at $399, so there is no way they are gonna go lower on that.

It's definitely in the top 2.. Different reports name it #1 and the V1 #2, and vice versa. It's about $100 cheaper as well. But I've had great luck with the V1 so far (7 years and counting), so I'm not jumping the gun just yet.

My friend just picked up the Bel 980 and that was said to be one of the top Radar Detectors. I would have to disagree. The false alarms that it gives off out weigh the distance factor. As far as the pasport I haven't heard much. I have a whistler that was there top model from about 2 years ago and it does pretty good, although If I had the money I would get the V1. Good Luck.
