The Jist:
This set of three emails sent and three emails received regard Razzi manufacturing a kit similar to or exactly like the ground effects package seen on either the Saleen Contour or the Mondeo ST220

The nitty gritty of the proposed 'deal' is among the two final emails.

----

My first message:

I'm wondering if Razzi customizes. Will or can you produce a front bumper more like the SVT style front bumper (wider lower opening, body lines/grooves to match and wider-apart fog lamp openings) . . . OR . . . will you produce for us (and there could possibly be hundreds of us) a body kit similar to the Saleen Contour's or the Mondeo ST220's? (I've included pictures.)

Word will get around should anything positive come of this. I'm a part of four separate international Contour/Mystique/Mondeo clubs and a number of local/regionals and it wouldn't take long to pass word; a simple bulletin board post would send these people screaming to their pocketbooks.

- -

Razzi's first response:

I have two comments: In designing our kit, we have to make sure that our part fits over the stock bumper....think about that regarding your comments about making the air hole larger. We do not make bumper replacements. We can't have some guy replacing his bumper with ours and inadvertantly disabling his air bag system. The SVT front is a complete bumper replacement.

My second comment was that before designing our Contour kit, we had a notice on our web site asking for comments about what to do with it regarding the design.....I guess what I'm saying is that you're about 3 years late.

----

My second message:

Passe as it may now be, would Razzi be at least willing to take in some new ideas for a 98+ Contour/Mystique kit? There *are*, as I said, a great number of people who would be interested.

Many of us had just discovered the Razzi kit, the only aftermarket kit outside of an SVT layover, and that isn't even possible for a Mystique without splitting the front bumper cover in two.

- -

Razzi's second response:

Because the Contour was discontinued, we would not be interested in going back to retrofit a kit or make any changes. The tooling costs are too high to justify it. We typically have to sell in excess of 300 kits just to break even....and I doubt that we could do that with a Contour.

----

My third message (5/8/01):

Here's an idea. Four months down the road, you get an email from me containing a list of 350 names and addresses/phone numbers of persons interested in ordering a Contour kit which is similar to the Saleen/Mondeo ST220 kit (that way those with SVT body parts would also be interested) and you'd verified that these people ARE going to purchase these kits... then?

- -

Razzi's third response (5/9/01):

Go for it....I'd need commitments from 350 people with a non-refundable deposit. We could work out these details if it all comes together. I would then get pics from you with the recommended changes you'd like to see in the new kit, etc. and we'd build exactly what you guys want.....let me know.

----

There you have it. It sounds impossible, but I'm willing to give it a shot.

The question here is, would you be willing to make a commitment to pay for a Saleen Contour or Mondeo ST220 style kit before it's even produced?

350 names. That's tough.. but I know y'all are out there somewhere. smile

.RMk..

Nonrefundable deposit? I hope you all dont fall for this trick!

There are too many variables in Razzis e-mail.

That leads to mistakes at the cost of consumers.

Recommendation: Dont go for it people!

It's a longshot and I can see why Icey is skeptical but if we can come up with a nice design thats better than the SVT kit, not only will I put a deposit down but I'll also personally recruit SVT owners to buy this kit. But what type of price are we talking about? You can have erebuni create a custom kit fitted to your tastes around $3000. So if this kit can be purchased in the $750-$1200 range I think we could get 350 people. But if the price is around $2000 it won't happen.

Im2nd2None has a good point, the end price one would pay for this is somthing you would want to find out before really atempting to get 350 names. I would just hate to see a lot of hard effort and high hopes for something that could cost a fortune and end up being a flop

what amount do we have to have committed, if it is just something small then maybe but if its over a couple hundred dollars than i dunno without seeing something, i think it would be safer modifying a kit to fit if it costs that much.
