Detroit, Michigan (AP) - After winning their 3rd Stanley Cup Championship in 6 years, the Detroit Red Wings did not waste any time in replacing their retiring head coach Scotty Bowman. Interestingly enough, the team did not release the name of the new coach.
Team spokesman Igor Luvdabutt: "We have been grooming him since we signed Scotty to his last extension. He is an unknown talent to anyone that does not follow Flint UAW Beer League Hockey, but we are confident that he can provide the leadership necessary to capture the Stanley Cup in 2003." Mr. I. Luvdabutt went on to explain that the new coach's name would not be released until his signature could be acquired in ink on the contract. Team lawyers have determined that signing in crayon does not form a legally binding document, although it is common in Flint. Contract terms were not disclosed.
The team did provide the following picture of the new coach to the Associated Press:
If it says AP, it must be true!
