Okay, I know this is a bit early but I live in Haverford, PA (close to Philly) and I removed my resonator and have an aerospeed DTM style muffler with custom 2.25" piping. I don't have to pass emissions until November but I was wondering if anyone has any ideas of stuff I should do to the engine to make it run cleaner. It has 98K on it, a new O2 sensor, new bosh +4 plugs and new ford racing 9mm wires. I know that this is far in advance but if it's going to cost a bit, I'd like to know up front. thanks alot

The car will pass as is, as long as it is properly maintained. My 3L passed with room to spare (note location).

We're having a meet in 2 weeks, check out the thread on SE PA meet at Arnold's electric karts.

Like Jason said, it should pass as is. As long as it isn't too loud!!

EDIT: Jason, when are we getting ours tested? I ran into another SVT last night on my way back from work and I don't think he could get over the sound! :p

Thanks alot guys, I'll be sure to maintain the car well. I do it anyway because I can't afford to have stuff break. Unfortunately I can't make it to Arnolds because I have a wedding to attend and I'll be in NY that weekend. Arnold's is alot of fun and I wish I could make it but hopefully I'll be able to make another meet.

Thankfully, no exhaust noise test required for state inspection. Of course, the guy that built my motor does my inspection, so his "thumb" would probably "accidentally" be over the meter if he was testing that.

Neil, the Contour is actually a quite clean running car (i.e. highly efficient), relatively speaking. My old 2.5L came in so far below spec that it was almost ridiculous that it was being tested. Keep an eye out - I'm down in Delco from time to time (mom lives in Glenolden).

John, after I see Alex Wednesday, my exhaust will be much quiter than it is now. I sound like a stupid ricer out there - I'm embarrassed to rev over 3500 RPM. We can test them out at Maple Grove in a few weeks, but we'll sound like quiet church mice compared to the 302 power that is bound to be there.

Well, compared to Pro Stock 302's and the unmuffled like, we're quiet. Compared to a stock Mustang (not Cobra)? We win. laugh
