THE DEVIL MADE ME DO THIS!!!

The Maple Grove event is all weekend (Fri-Sun), but Sunday is the better car show day as they give awards for three places not just first. First place gets a jacket, by the way! laugh

There used to be a Contour SVT class but as no one showed up for it, they discontinued it.

As the SHOs did a couple of years ago, if we'll have the support (5 cars or so), we can request that they add the class. Then make sure we have a group show up each year and they'll keep it.

Anybody in? I can find out details (hours, etc.) if anyone is interested. I believe awards are given in the 3:00 vicinity.

I want to do this and Arnold's too! Car show all day and "dinner" at Arnolds sounds like a plan. The events are about 35 minutes apart as the Chickenhawk flies! SO, my time preference would be around 5:00.

Hope to see some people soon.

P.S. Don't forget the SHO meet this weekend. :p

Show? Bleh. I'd be embarrassed to enter my car in a show.

When are the drag races? laugh

I'll have to ask Alex when I see him next Wednesday if he's going. smile

Arnold's is open until 8, so meeting at 5 could work fine.

I'm thinking Konis and H&R's. Allen is such a bad influence. Actually I'm thinking about rebuilding the entire front end and throwing on a bigger rear sway bar first. Then I'll address the struts/springs.

Hey, you wanna sell your underdrive pulleys, too? LOL I'll give you money soon for the Pro-M and Superchips.

Long story short: A UDP without any damper (like all of them) allow the crank to vibrate leading to bearing wear, etc. The DMD (Dual Mode Damper) has 2 dampers to reduce/eliminate the vibrations at two frequencies. It's a Ford OEM upgrade found on European Duratecs. The stock pulley has one damper (which is better than none, but not optimal for an engine that revs to 7k).

I'm quite convinced that my STOCK motor died as the result of "crank harmonics (vibrations)" thrashing a bearing. It won't blow up in a day, but long term prognosis could be bad.

Ford spent a lot of money to develop the DMD. It also took a lot of convincing for the accountants to put a more expensive part on the Euro Duratec, especially one that the marketing guys really can't show off. It's also the only thing Ford has done to combat the early deaths of 2.5 Duratecs (and only in Europe to boot).

Search around for the discussions (ad nauseum) on the DMD. They'll contain a link somewhere to a site that details the detriments of UDPs on a Toyota (?) engine.

On topic: I might go to the Friday Test and Tune (9-4) at Maple Grove next weekend. $25 and the crowds should be low as many people actually have jobs to be at then.
