How many miles do you have on them? Decide how much money you can spend and then look at your options

I only have 50k on them, which I thought was mediocre. Found some Monroe Sensa Trac's they are rumored to be decent. Koni's are about twice the price!!

Hey, I used to have a 99 SE and when I had it, I put the BAT kit in - but now I have an SVT. I still have a set of original 99 SE springs and struts left - if you think that they will fit your 97 and you want them I will sell them to you. They do have 50K miles on them but they did not have any problems when I had them replaced with BAT kit at a local shop.

They will fit your car if you use BOTH the springs AND struts from the '99 . They changed styles of (front) springs from Gen.1 to Gen.2 Contours , so they changed the struts accordingly . One style had a "pigtail" type spring & one style had a "straight-cut" spring , that's the easiest I can describe it to you . The rear spring (and strut) styles are the same for Gen.1 and Gen.2 . Strut dampening is another topic (you'll do just fine with the '99 SE struts) .

Ok, I just looked on ford part outlet website - new would be ~$446 plus shipping. How about $220? I have no idea whether it's high or low.

As for eibach springs - I don't know an answer to your question but I read somewhere on this site a while back that your struts need to match your springs. Personally, I loved my BAT kit and it just worked out in a way that I couldn't take it off my old tour before trading it in. But it was pricey - with labor it cost me $800+ (but again, it was a sweet ride)
