Has anyone installed a Schroth Rallye 4 harness in their SVT? I have one ordered and was wondering if there are any tricks to it, i.e. getting the back seat out to reach the bolts, taking the front seat out, etc. Any advice is most welcome. THANKS!!

ya got them in my car and love it. to install them just take off the lap seatbelt bolts and screw them in place. Now for the back seat I just yanked hard and pulled up the back seat to have access to the rear bolts. them out then in with the bolts that hold the the rear seats in place. Oh ya and good choice in getting the Schroth seatbelts, there D.O.T. legal so if you ever get into an fender bender, and get hurt the insurance can't say it was cause of the aftermarket seat belt.

I have been looking at 4 point harnesses. My problem is I carry passenger pretty frequently. Coldn't I just connect the rear portion the seat brackets on the drivers seat it self?

From what I understand you cant. You need the shoulder belts to be at a 90 degree (45 degree? anybody know for sure) angle to the floor, so you really need to connect them to the back seat bolts. Otherwise the belts wont work properly. My friend has those same belts installed in his mustang and there is a second belt release behind the headrest so that when he needs to carry rear passengers he can just undo it and thne use his stock seatbelts. Hope that helps.

Check out the Schroth.com site for pics. I'm looking at the Rallye4 harness. It gets bolted to the seatbelt bolts under the rear seat AND to the bolts on the front seat. NOVA is correct, the harness separates just behind the front seat . I plan on leaving my stock belts in place and using them on the street. You can tuck the rest of the harness under the front seat. What I've seen some Audi guys do is to sew a male tab onto the right side of the lap belt and use the stock female seat belt end. I'm not to sure about cutting off the stock harness end.

I've got a Scroth Rallye3 harness in my SVT. Here is how I installed mine:
- I used the rear-most mounts of the front seat rails to mount the lapbelts. Simply take out the bolts from the rear seat rails (10mm I believe), slip the Scroth eyelets under the rail (you'll have to bend the eyelets about 45 degrees), and reinsert the seat rail bolts. You might want to add a washer to the other rear bolts (there are 2 on the end of each rail) to keep from bending the rail.
- The rear mount used the rear lapbelt mount. Pull up on the front of the rear seat cushion (a quick jerking motion works best) and the seat pops out. You'll need a torx wrench (#55 I think) to remove the seat belt mounting bolt. Add the Scroth eyelet and bolt it back down and put the seat back.
- I also have a custom anti-submerine strap ('crotch strap') to keep the lap belt from creeping up when the shoulder belts are tightened.
- You MUST NOT mount the rear points more than 45 degrees off horizontal. If you try to mount the rear points to the front seat back, you will be crushed during an accident.
- As for rear passengers, that's why I got the Rallye3. It's got a quick release so the back seat can still be used. I only wear the Scroth during racing, but keep it installed at all times. The belt is tucked in the map pocket of my seat (it's still mounted), and can be pulled out and buckled in about 1-2 minutes.
You'll have 2 rear mounting points (unlike my 1 for the Rallye3), but the same logic should still apply.
Good luck

I just ordered my schroth rallye 4 harnesses today.
one question about installation...do you have to remove the front seats to get the the bolts or are they pretty easily assesable?
I know you have to remove the rear cushion to get to the rear mounting points, I just hope i don't have to remove the front seats...seems like that would be a pain in the ass

Just did this about two weeks ago so it is still fresh in my memory. I have the Rally-4
In the back, you will find a Torx 50 and Torx 55 bolt. I connected the back to both of the seat belt anchor points. You just need to remove the seat portion, the back can stay in place and you should be able to work around it with a 3/8" socket and extension.
On the front, I elevated my seat fully and put the left hand mount on the same Torx bolt as the factory seat belt. The connection next to the tunnel there are two schools of thought. I was able to connect mine to the same location as the factory seat belt using a box-end wrench.
Andy (SVTSTS) connected his to the seat rail so he could further tighten the lap portion by lowering the seat all the way, belting-in, and raising the seat.
Hope this helps.
TB
PS, since you can disconnect the front and back parts I just wedge the buckle in the back seat. I've installed my daughters car seat without drama right behind my seat, even after the Schroth was installed.
