I installed the KKM today and when I started my car up, the rpm's started going up and down. I then drove my car and whenever I came to a stop, the rpm's dropped down below 500. I drove about 2 miles before I returned home. Will this fix itself whenever the computer relearns whatever it has to relearns? Thanks for any help.

Did you reset the computer after you installed the KKM?

I thought that whenever you hooked the battery back up, the computer relearned on it's own.

OK, so you disconnected the battery cable from the terminal while you were installing the KKM, right? If so, it kinda depends on how long the cable was off to really make sure the ECU rest itself. If it was off more than 20 mins or so, it should be reset. You can really make sure it is reset by pulling the fuses in the engine compartment fuse box (there are 2 of them), or by taking the computer out and re-insatlling it (follow Chris Hightowers instructions here.) Sounds like your computer is still re-learning the new stuff. You only ran it like 2 miles right? Let it idle for like 10 mins and see what happens...Don't drive it, just let it idle....

I believe it is fuses 9 & 11 (not 11& 14) in the engine bay glove box. Did you remember to hook up everything okay and push the IAT sensor in completely? Then start the car and let it idle for a few minutes (no lights on, no a/c, no stereo on).

I didn't start it up and let it idle. I'm about to go outside and do that now.

I started the car up and let it idle for 10 minutes and the idle evened out and I thought it was fine. I drove it down to the store and when I came to a stop, the rpm's would fluxuate (sp?) up and down. They would drop as low as 400. The car did the same thing when I had the revised tranny installed. They told me to drive it and by the time I got home, the computer would straighten the idle out. So even after I let it idle for 10 minutes and drove it for about 6 miles, could it still need time to relearn?

Anyone wonder if it's because the stock MAF is calibrated for a panel filter and the KKM is a cone filter. (I am guessing you have a Non-SVT)
This is not the first time this problem has occured.
Okay with that out of the way - Barring any intake leaks that may have sprouted during install.
I would check & clean the IAT sensor & the MAF. Sometimes the filters are heavily pre-oiled...

DemonSVT, I have a 99 SVT. I noticed in a pic of someone's else's setup that they have a clamp around the end of their KKM that goes into the tude in the fender well. Mine didn't come with a clamp and the tube is not very tight at all. Could this be causing this?
