I have a 2000 Atx Se:

I have been give 66-70 and all the way to 90 ft lbs. What is the correct torque specs?

Also I have gotten really good feed back on my brake questions, and I'd like to tahnk everyone for their help.

One more question, I just want to change the rotors, I have new pads so:
--Do I need to take the rotor off the bracket, or Can I just take the bracket off with the caliper?-- I hate torx bits and would like to not have to deal with the unpleasantness of caliper springs, etc, etc...

Thanks!

My 1995 service manual says 62, and I've never had a problem using that torque figure. I generally use around 70, though.

Ford did revise it from 60 to 90!

As long as they are all the same and near 90 you should be fine! Consistancy is the key!

Umm, you'll need to remove the caliper to get the rotor off. I'm not sure about the bracket you mentioned. My caliper bolts directly to the bracket which is part of the steering knuckle casting. Do you have aftermarket calipers w/ brackets maybe? Either way, they have to come off to slide the rotor off of the hub.

Hey all went without a hitch! All I did was I unbolted the claiper brackets and kept the caliper on the bracket. It was pretty simple and the hard part was compressing the caliper piston.

Well any suggestions on breaking in the rotors?
