OK, 63k miles, time for brakes, probably 50k + or so on the current set. I'm glad I got my moneys worth, paid $400 or so on the first brake job after the Ford parts went to sh*t.
SOOOO, What's the deal with cross drilled rotors? Will they last longer = not warp? I don't Autocross, much worse, I drive the congested and beat up streets of Denver. All cities have congested traffic, but Coloradons don't know how to keep traffic flowing. I think they omitted the whole thing about merging in the driving schools here. ANYWAY, stop-go-stop twice-go backwards-stop again. Which are better? The BAT prices aren't bad. The Standard Premium rotors have a very nice price. Are they any better than what I would get at Napa?
I appreciate your input.

Cross drilled rotors are really only for looks. As to if the cars brakes any better with crossed drilled rotors the debate will go on until the cows come home. For me that is a long time since I'm two generations away from having family cows. What drilled rotors will do is crack around the holes and make it harder (some say impossible) to resurface.
BAT did seem to have a problem with new rotors that were warped out of the box, but I have not read of any such complaints for some time.
Anyone else want to jump in here?

IMHP the best rotors available now are the DBA slotted rotors from Precision Brakes Company. These rotors only come slotted but are designed for hard use, are very high quality, the are coated to prevent rust and the price is very good. Check this web site: www.precisionbrakescompany.com I like the EBC Greenstuff brake pads available at The Tire Rack.

The rotors are priced each. If you become a member like I did the cost is 75.00 each for front or rear rotors ($100.00 for SVT front) for the Longlife slotted which is a very good price for this quality of rotor. It is simple to become a member there and costs nothing.

I have EBC Greenstuff pads front and rear, they work very well for me (daily driver, no track time). I recently removed a set of warped EBC "sport grooved" rotors from the front of my car nad replaced them with a set of SVT size Raybestos rotors. [I had to replace the caliper brackets with the larger SVT/Cougar brackets to fit the larger rotors.] I also have Raybestos rotors on the rear.
So far, everything is working great. I have used the Raybestos rotors on other vehicles with good results. I have also used the NAPA brand rotors with good results.
Maybe the next time I need brakes (2-3 years) I'll use the DBA rotors (we'll see how they work for other people on the forums).

Every time I need to get hard on the brakes in dailiy driving (often enough with the idiots around here), I smile and appreciate the braided lines I put on. No more mush pedal.

Cross-drilled if you live in wet and/or snowy environments.
Slotted if you drive hard / brake hard
Solid rotors for everything else.
I love my Contour to death, but my 'vette is still my #1 baby. There's money to be made in racing. I should know. I put a lot of it there. You can make a small fortune in racing. Start with a large one. How fast do you want to go...how much money do you have? You can fix a lot of things, but you can't fix stupid!
