I'm having an odd problem with my brakes... When I step on the brake pedal, I feel some light vibrations that I would almost describe as a scrubbing feeling. I only experience this right before the car stops - maybe from 5mph to 0mph. I've felt rotors that have been warped to various degrees from a shudder in the pedal, to the whole vehicle shuddering, but this is definitely a different feeling. I have stock rotors on the car. I'm not sure of the pads, I bought the car in January. The pads appear to have been recently replaced, but nonetheless, I've put 6,000 miles on the car since I got it, so it's definitely not a break-in issue.

Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks

Were the rotors turned or atleast lightly finished when you had the pads changed?

If not that could be your problems. The new pads cut in unevenly on the old rotors.

The pads were changed before I bought the car. I bought the car from a dealer, so I had limited information regarding its past. If what you mentioned above is the case, is it now too late to have the rotors turned while keeping these pads?

As a side note, does anybody know offhand the minimum thickness limit on the rotors (front and rear)?

Thanks

I don't have my book right now, but I think it was 10mm on the fronts. I can't remember what it was on the rears.

What you are describing sounds like lightly warped rotors. Also referred to as "slip and grip". Less common but also possible is sticking caliper slide pins.
