When I first use my brakes they are perfect, smooth and linear, but as soon as they warm up they begin to show signs of warpage. My wheels are evenly torqued and my rotors and pads only have about 10-15K miles on them. I got the Bat Special, which includes Mintex A/F pads and AP Lockhead or EPC rotors. I don't think the rotors are permanently warped or they would continually show those signs so turning them would probably be fruitless, right? Could the pads be getting the rotors to hot? Do "cooler" pads with little brake dust exist?

my old sunbird did that, if you do alot of breaking, and brake hard like i do... it was normal

when i was on the highway no prob with them, but in town in stop and go ****, always felt like the front end was going to come off in many peices


To be installed:
-New BAT H20 Metal pump (got it)
-Bosch Platinum plugs (got them)
-9mm fordracing wires (on order)
-rear bushings clunk clunk arg!
-Intake when $$ is available

-17" BSA Rims and Kumho 712's
-Pioneer Deck and 5x7's
-Side markers, ding strips gone

Yes, it can be the rotors. Some rotors will actually change dimensions slightly when they get really hot. If the thickness variation becomes too great, it feels just like warped rotors. Rotors that are not quite true to begin with can be more sensitive to changes when they get hot. It is aslo possible that the rotor is not propely seated to the hub. Make sure that all rust in the mating surface between the hub and rotor is removed. Use a little anti-sieze if needed to keep it from rusting in the future.

You could also have sticking caliper slide pins or inadequately lubricated calipers.

The hub is where the rotor rests on right?

Yes, it is the flange that the rotor mates up too. The lug studs are anchored to the hub and extend through the rotor.
