Fellas, I had the ole shudder blues from 15mph and up! Of course, the wheel lugs were torqued too high from the local tire place. I retorqued them to 69lbs (I know...specs are 62lbs...seemed low). Shudder gone from 45mph down, but take the wheel out of my hand at 90mph. So I went down, ordered new rotors from NAPA ($69...lifetime warranty against defects) and install both sides in 45 minutes. NAPA quality is great! I also installed their premium semi-met front pad ($49) and am very happy with it. Dusty, but very progressive. Next step? Full flush (synth) and braided steel lines.

Hey I was just wondering if I should get those NAPA rotors or BAT rotos for my 2000 SE.
Also can you give me a break down of the tools you used and if I have to reseat the pads on the caliper (ie. will the fall out or will the springs keep them in)? I know you need a torx bit of some kind.
Thanks, Albert

If you want to rid your rotors of warpage once and for all, take it to a Ford dealer and have them turn the rotors on the car. This compensates for caliper mis-alignment, and will correct the problem. Often, it is the only thing that will correct the problem. I speak from experience.

Ford dealerships scare me!!! Down here our dealership's service department screwed up my mom's old Taurus. They have been sued countless times for shotty work and you know they can't be too good if Ford hired them. Maybe I can take my ride to the Lincoln/Mercury place, I know the president's(not the U.S. pres.) daughter.

You'll need a C clamp or a disc brake pad spreader to push the caliper piston back in the bore when installing new pads. The rears screw in instead of press in, no matter how hard you press. The piston on the rears can be screwed back in using the tips of a pair of needle nose pliers.
