What are the latest thoughts on brand & type of brake fluid. BAT says not to use synthetic, I wonder why?
Thanks Eddie

Bologna. (sp?)
What's their reasoning?
1 vote for Valvoline Syn. DOT3/4 . Great fluid, great price, easily available.

Because they don't offer synthetic in their catalogue?
Juggie mentioned one good brand. I use the Motorcraft DOT3 available at your local Ford dealer; also good stuff.
EDIT: It comes in a small plastic bottle in 1 pint (16 oz.) size with a red background label (sort of).

Ford HD fluid. Used to be in the 'blue can' but am told it's not anymore. Still some of the best fluid available.

Brake fluid is brake fluid. Apparently the less alcohol the better because of absorbing water or something. That's what I've been told.

Its always the same argument. I believe they warn not to use slicone brake fluid, or DOT 5. This stuff does not absorb the water well, so it pools...in your calipers...

I seem to remember a warning for cars that have ABS to NOT use the DOT5 fluid- something where it's not good at flowing thru the orfices of the ABS unit. I use regular DOT4 fluid and change it once a year. (Gotta love those Speedbleeders!) The ATE Super Blue fluid is good, as is the Ford HD from what I have heard.
