Hey everyone, I would appreiciate if anyone could help here, concerning my rear discs/pads. I am not sure on whether or not I need to replace my rear rotors and pads. Frankly, the rear rotors look like hell. I would almost say that they look almost glazed over. Even after using the brakes, they still look the same. There is a small ring, about a half inch fromthe center of the rotor that looks all shiny and like a rotor usually looks. The rest of the rotor looks to be pitted and 'stained'.
I don't believe they are warped, as I am sensing no problems while driving, braking, or anything. Sometimes, while braking, I hear them rubbing, but no squeeking. It just makes me feel like they are not doing much. I know the real discs are significantly worn less then the fronts, but i don't know how much exactly. Both rear rotors look the same. I checked the pads today, and they appear to have plenty of life left, and the caliper seems to move fine on the guide pin. would it really be worth switching them, or should i just be satisfied? i hope some one can lend a little advice.

If they are working fine, why do you think they need to be replaced?

If the rotors are glazed, as it sounds like your are describing, you can take the pads off and sand the pads and rotors to remove the glaze. In extreme cases, you may need to remove the rotors and have them machined to get rid of the glaze. If you machine or replace the rotors, it would be best to replace the pads.

But if they are working fine, it would be a waste of time and money to go any further. Usually you don't need to worry about glazed pads and rotors unless you are trying to get rid of a noise.
