A few days ago i changed my front brake pads and by accident lost one of the brake clips that go on the outside of the caliper. Well I went to Ford to get a replacement but the only brake clip that they have doesn't fit my car. They said they do not have any other brake clip on file. mad Has anyone come across the problem? I have a 98 CSVT. Do the 98's have different factory brakes than the newer ones? Thanks for your help!

Older ones, built before early 98 or so (?), have a different caliper than all the others. Tell them to look harder, or go to another dealer. Or, buy a new one from BAT then bring it by the Ford dealer and stick it in their face.

You will find them on page 6 of their catalog. You can download the catalog at www.batinc.net

They show the caliper springs (2)- E0 only as part number K420K7A for $12.50. They do not have a method of ordering parts over the web or by e-mail, so you will need to call or fax the order. (941) 355-0005 fax (941) 355-4683.

Don't be upset with the poor guy at the dealer's parts counter. He is only as good as the Ford parts system. It isn't his fault. Fortunately BAT recognizes they Ford shortfall and can supply the retaining spring clips.
