My wife's 1999 Contour V6 SE is in need of front brakes. I plan on doing the job myself, but need a little advice on the rotor choice. I have already long-ago decided on EBC Greenstuff brake pads. What kind of stock-ish rotor will team up nicely with this pad? Our 'tour does not have ABS, so I don't want anything that will promote lock-up - don't want the wife going through the windsheild and don't want to decrease the poor weather driving characteristics of the car. Brake performance is important, but I really just want a pad that stops as good as the stock set-up. Most importantly, is I want a low-dust pad! Well, not most importantly, but it's important for my saneness!!!!

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Also, any advice on the brake job itself would be appreciated too! smile Thanks!!

Forgot - anyone have a good on-line source for the EBC pads and a quality recommended rotor?

Might also try CTA motorsports. Lots of happy customers...

You\'ll find them here.

Well, after searching this board and speaking with Joe at SP Motorsports, I ordered the following:

Mintex A/F front pads
Autospecialty rotors
Autospecialty rear shoes

Sounds like I won't get rid of the dust monster, but it should be a lot less than the OEM set up. I ended up skipping on the EBC pads due to some negative comments I heard from several tuner shops regarding how hard they are on rotors(?). ANyway, Mintex has been around for years and seems like a good choice based on my research. Thanks for your help! Now I just need to get rid of the moosing, the creaking over bumps, the doggy unintelligent ATX, the . . . . wink

Well, that's what I ordered, but instead I got Mintex a/f rear shoes and Brembo rotors. No complaints though! The fronts were easy to install, but working with the rear drums were a real PITA!

So far in 25 miles of stop-n-go, no brake dust and markedly improved brake feel (vs. the crappy cracked front stock pads!)
