My brake parts arived direct from BAT on friday and a friend helped me install new rear pads (autozone) and the BAT Big Brake kit "C" on saturday afternoon. The rotors that arrived with this kit were EBC and are grooved and "dotted not driled to prevent rotor cracking". I did not expect these rotors as the description online and over the phone was "standard". The rotors look awesome. Does anyone else have them? what are the benefits/drawbacks to grooved rotors?

The brake install went very smooth. The brakes fit with no issues behind my 15" enkei CDR9 wheels, and my calipers appeared to be in good condition. I haven't changed the fluid in them them yet but i was careful not to mess anything up and the pedal feels firm. The brakes even initially felt much stronger than my worn out se brakes, and the more I've driven the stronger they have become. I really didn't realize that my brakes were so bad until i got these.

Bottom line, I would definitally recommend this kit to anyone looking to put SVT sized, moderately upgraded brakes on their SE. The extra money for the SVT sized brackets and rotors is well worth it in my opinion. They work fantastic and look good too.

got any pics?

I was considering the Big Brake Kit "A", because of the cross-drilled rotors, but shoot, if you get the gas grooved with kit "C", then I'll do that and save the dough!!!

As I recall grooved rotors offer a couple advantages. One being that they provide a 'channel' for the gases to escape much like crossdrilled rotors direct the gas into the venting area. The other is they tend to keep the pads clean because the edges on the channels act like a knife scraping off crap that builds up on the pads. Those edges also give the brakes more 'bite' when you first step on the pedal because of the rough edge trying to grab the pad. Pardon all the scientific terms  but this is basically what I read on a site somewhere. laugh

BTW, The guy who runs fordmondeo.org has the same rotors on the back. they are the EBC Sportgroove rotors.

Where did you order from?
Are they all-wheel disc brakes or just the front?

I've had the BAT "B" kit (with SS brake lines as well) installed since October. The rotors are the same size as the SVT's. I'm using the Mintex 1144 Comp pads. Stops like mad, pads are dusty as hell. It's an upgrade well worth the $400 and change I put in it.

You can also find those rotors on the Tire Rack web site.

You can also buy the caliper brackets from you friendly Ford dealer. The list price is about $85.00 each. They are the same bracket as the factory installs on SVT's an V6 Cougars.
