Topic pretty much says it all. I bled the brakes last night and now the emergency brake light is always on rather the brake is engaged or not. Anybody have any ideas? Is it possible some fluid ran down on something electrical on the rear brakes.? I thought the light was triggered by a connection AT the ebrake handle. Is there another connection at the wheel? I'm at a loss...this a very weird problem. TIA. laugh

If you dont have enough fluid in the reservoir it will light up.

I can't help answer your question, but was curious about your bleeding technique.

My Haynes manual says to bleed a front wheel first, then the diagonally opposite rear. Then get the other front, followed by the diagonally opposite rear again.

Is that how you did it, or did you start furthest from the master cylinder?

Does it matter?

The light on the dash is for both the park brake engaged and for low brake fluid level. The low brake fluid level is functioned by a float in the resivoir on the master cylinder. You may have left the brake fluid low or perhaps you somehow made the float stick in the down position.

Sweet, you guys rule. I'll put some more fluid in tommorrow and see what happens. I made sure the level didn't go below the 'min' mark and it is still right about there. I'm guessing it turns on at about the min level so as not to allow air in the lines? Makes sense. laugh

Winden,
I didn't read the Haynes manual and just did the fronts first and then the rears. Seems to work OK so far. The brakes definately feel much smoother than before. I'll let you know if anything weird pops up.

Thanks everybody. laugh
