What do you recommend for upgraded street pads? I have Porterfields on my Miata, but don't see a listing for the Contour. :p

I'm about to buy Mintex 1144 front and AF on the rear. Eric from BAT said it is a good combo for everyday street driving.

Please with KVR pads available through Chris Wong at ctamotorsports. Light dust, good feel.

I'm going through CTA as well. I thought about the KVR and the cross drilled. Is that a good combination? I've heard a lot of people had problems with warping rotors.

I advise againt Kevlar/Ceramic pads.

They need to be heated up before they get good grip. Do not like bad weather or stop and go driving. Made for the track, not daily driving.

Go with the Mintex

I recently installed cross drilled rotors with KVR pads. I got mine from www.PerformanceFords.com. I love the brakes. They are so much better than the stock brakes and pads. I do a lot of highway driving with fast stops. Have absolultely no problems in the dry or the wet. Have not yet experienced winter, but we will see. In the rain they are amazing. I don't seem to have too much of a problem having to heat them up. They heat up pretty quick. Good Luck

Yeah, take it from me...I have Carbotech racing pads on my car and they squeel like hell!

However, they stop on a dime.

I am upgrading rotors and calipers to four piston and cross drilled rotors.

As for the pads....street/racing pads.

I too have KVR Cross Drills with KVR Carbon Fiber Semi Metallic Pads. Just like LauraQ. I am very pleased witht them. They do squeal a little bit, but no warping, and no fade under aggressive driving conditions.

Here's what I am about to do:
KVR Pads front and rear (performance fords are practically giving them away this month)
EBC Turbogroove rotors front
KVR Cross Drilled rotors rear, silver plate
Renewing pin and bushings for all four calipers with H/W from BAT

I'm trying to get better braking (gotta stop the 3.0), less dusting, less fade, and to hopefully get rid of the braking vibration i've had for months

I believe EBC Greenstuff pads are Kevlar? I have them fitted to my car and they work great from cold. Slightly better when warmed up (I mean a few seconds normal braking), but they're by no means track pads. I used to have Ferodos and I much prefer the EBCs.

I was driving on a dual-carriageway soon after fitting them doing around 90MPH, the brakes hadn't been used for a while so were probably cold. Someone came into my lane doing about 50MPH and I stomped the brakes, locking the wheels and slowing to 50 real fast. I have 215/45 tyres and the road was dry, so I can have no complaints about my braking performance smile

I'd recommend them to anyone.

Paul.
