I don't remember which one it is, but how are these brakes holding up for everyone?? I know a few people out there have them, and I would like to upgrade the brakes a little bit. And in the next couple of months its gonna be time for new brakes.

I don't have them nor do I know anyone who has them, but I do know that slotted rotors eat brake pads fairly quick....

I had slotted on my SHO, and no problem. I'm not worried about the pads, but rotor warpage.

I have powerslots. Got 'em from KKM. So far so good. Did not want cross drilled, heard mixed reviews with them. My only gripe with the powerslots is there should of been maybe one or more slots in them.

I just ordered the Power Slot rotors from KKM today for my 99 Cougar. I should get them on the 17th. I'll keep you posted.

BTW.. I was thinking about the Mintex A/F street pads. Are these better than the stock pads that come on the Contour/Cougar?

Mintex are good..I have read good things about people with them. I think anything is better than stock.

I have the Powerstop cross drilled rotors.. All the way around and I am very happy with their performance... They run about 200 degrees cooler than the slotted because of the air venting between the disc plates.. The slots just cut down on brake dust buildup.. The dimples keep the surface cool.

I am also curious. I would also prefer slotted, as it should actually dipel gases that are trapped between the rotor and the pad surface that hinder breaking. This is the true reason for slotted/cross drilled. I have a few woories as both actually decreasse the rotor surface, as the rotor surface is one of the most important pieces in breaking. The larger the swept area the better. SO I guess it a toss up? A few holes or slots to transfer gas, but not too many or we decreasse swept area.
I wonder if Porsche breaks would fit and I could end my confusion!!!

This is not true anymore...Brake pad friction material used to (like in the 50's) emit gas when it got too hot, and this gas used to push back against the pads, decreasing stopping power. This was known as "greenfade". Modern friction materials do not do this. Slotting/Drilling don't make HUGE differences in performance. Slotting supposedly helps remove glaze from the pads, while crossdrilling is supposed to do the same, as well as make a lighter rotor. But, drilled rotors often times develop stress cracks at the holes. Just ask Porsche. They have had problems with cracks in their drilled rotors in the past.
I've also heard really good things about cryo-treated rotors.
