I have a 00 mystique with 22,000 miles and I can tell that I'm going to need some kind of brake work already. Rear drums squeak and the front sound like they're grinding already....anyone have any idea about how long the stock pads/shoes last for? Also any recommendations for replacement pads/rotors that are reasonably priced? Thanks

I just replaced mine at 47,3xx. I am the second owner and I am assuming that they were the oem brakes.

Totally original...45,200...Rotors needed turned and are now minimum....I am good on brakes though....I would say standard would be 25-35K miles.... I break alot over downshifting...Compare the price of a clutch to brake pads...!!!!

Ahh I bought my car used with 23k and then upgraded them with oversized cailpers and rotors 52k, sold them too LEO and he got them on. Still the same ones when I bought my car used, I don't know if the dealer changed them or not

Replaced mine all around at 50K. Rear pads had delaminated and the rotors were pretty thin. The fronts look good and could have gone farther, but I was replacing the struts so out they came.

I went with the Econo Bat rotors and Mintex pads, 4k on them and so far so good.

Front pads started grinding at 15k miles. I kept complaining to the dealer so they replaced the pads and cut the rotors.

At 18k the noise came back.

At 21k I couldn't take it anymore, they replaced the pads again, and re-cut the rotors. Told me that if the noise came back, they couldn't do anything else about it.

At 45k, the noise came back and I replaced the pads again. I did the rear shoes at this time also.

At 61k the noise returned again. The pads are worn about halfway, so I told the dealer, please replace the Rotors ONLY.

Now the brakes are NORMAL again.

FORD ROTORS SUCK.

My brakes lasted to 43,000 miles. At that time, the front rotors were severely rusted to the hubs and had to be replaced.

OEM rotors warped at 35K. Replaced rotors and pads with KVR set from SP Motorsports. 5K on these, so far so good. OEM rotors blow, bigtime. 84 Honda Civic owned for 10 years and 188K, never turned a rotor one. 94 Honda Civic owned for 5 years and 130k, never turned a rotor one. How hard can it be to put a quality (you know, that job #1 thing) rotor on a vehicle?
