A little background: I had new tires put on 7k ago and about 2k ago it felt like my front rotors were warped pretty bad. A moderatly hard stop almost felt like the ABS was kicking in. Hard stops were very unpleasant.

So when I had my tires rotated I asked them to check the brakes and let me know how bad they were. I also asked them to make sure the lug nuts were torqued to 90 ftlbs. Well, they said my rotors would need to be turned and I still felt a little pulsing over the next few days but not as much.
Today (a week later) the warping is gone! There is absolutly no hint of warped rotors when I'm braking!

Moral of the story? If you think your rotors are warped, torque the lug nuts to spec and see what happens!

Same thing happened here. Lug nuts were too high, torqued them at a lower rate and no problems since.

All i can say is you were very lucky. Mine were warped by a monkey with an impact, and they did not come back. Had to turn them. must depend just how high they go on the torque...

That's what Elizabeth had been saying all along. Where'd the 90 ft-lb. figure come from? I've been using 85.

The Factory Shop Manual actually says 62 ft/lb, which is probably light, but some OEM aluminum wheels do not have steel inserts in the lug holes. I have had to use a four foot bar on a cross wrench to loosen some of the nuts after a proper tire shop used an air wrench.

To be honest, I don't remember exactly where but it was from somewhere here on CEG.
