I wanted to check the shoes on my rear brakes and the condition of the cylinders, but I cant get the darn drum off. They turn freely if I spin them but I cant get them to slide off! I tried WD40 and some other lubes, any suggestions?

When you put it back together, apply anti-sieze compound between the inner drum flange and the hub flange and it will be easier to remove nest time.
The other advice you have received is really about all you can do. WD40 to soak in to try to desolve some of the rust, and a large hammer to try to get the rust to break loose. Don't hammer on the hub, just on the drum.

Try a 8 in puller like for pullys. or bleed the system so the brakes give off the drum thats is how I did it. Diconnect the brake line. The self adjusters keep the drums on and shoes close to the drum.

Hammer works if the drum is siezed to the hub. Strike the drum on the face where the studs are only. If the drum is a bit worn, there will be a groove on the outer lip where the shoes don't touch, this is holding it on. You might have to back off on the adjustment to move the shoes in so it will clear.
