How can you tell just by looking at the rotors if they are warped or not? Do you have to take it to a shop to tell or are there some signs to look for? I sometimes get a steering whell vibration braking from high speeds...but it doesn't happen all the time. I replace my front rotors with some PowerSlots but left the rears alone with just new pads. Of course, new pads on the front as well.

Any help would be great. Thanks a lot.

You can't tell just from looking. They need to be checked on the car with a dial indicator or off the car chucked up in a brake rotor lathe with a dial indicator or an aproximation as the rotor is being cut.

It is unusual (but not impossible) for a rotor to correct itself and cause an intermittant problem. If the problem comes and goes, look elsewhere, such as a sticking caliper pin or a tire problem. If the vibration is there without applying the brakes, it is not likely a brake problem.

I am experiencing the same problem. My dash and steering wheel shake under braking. Would anyone suggest aftermarket rotors or just have the stock rotors turned?(TIA)

I had a warped rotor last summer so I had it turned but sad to say it warped again after 7,000 km. If you do a lot of heavy braking you might want to replace them. I bought 2 new after market rotors and so far no problems. You can turn your old rotors, it all depends how badly they are warped. You may not get the same problem as I did but the decision is your's.
