I'm looking at buying Greenstuff pads for the front of my ST24 (for use with the standard discs.) I was wondering if anyone is using them on a Contour or Mondeo V6 and can give me their opinion. Any feedback welcome. ------------------ David yr 2000 silver Mondeo ST24 V6 MTX mods: Custom alloy air intake using K&N RC-3250 air filter; front Koni Sports shocks; rear 20mm Selbys sway bar; Throttle hang fix.

Don't have them on my 'tour yet but have used them in the past on 2 cars and my bike. LOVED 'em. Good grip even from cold and very little dust.

I found some at parts warehouse.com. Here's what they quoted: (From info@brakeco.com) Hi EBC greenstuff pads front-79.00 rear not available yet. Thanks Mark Parts Warehouse 2531 w 237 st unit#127 Torrance,CA 90505 Tel-888-428-7278 or 310-530-1243 I'm not sure if the EBC greens are that much better than the Mintek AF pads? I bought them directly from ebc-brakes.com for $79 USD. These IMO are the best street brakes for the Contour/Mondeo. I am also running Autospecialties Powerstop drilled cad plated rotors in the larger 278mm size (I have an SE not an SVT)along with the standard SE/Cougar calipers. To put it mildly, if I don't wear my seatbelt and hit the brakes, I'll go thru the windshield ------------------ '98 Tropic Green Tour SE Sport V-6 ATX "I promise I wont modify it honey, it's a family car!"

ikarus1 - do the pads wear quickly, I've heard that now from a few people?

well, considering that I am HARD on my brakes and have x-drilled rotors, I haven't notice much wear in 5000 miles. I am guessing they last in street cars about 25K miles or so.......
but absolutely NO dust on my wheels, and I show no fear in wet weather or emergency stops

Thanks for the info ikarus1, I'll be ordering a set for the front today. By the way, the part numbers (for anyone else interested) are fronts # 2956, rears # 2965. Rears are apparently only a new release. David

David, let us know how you like them - I have only the front as my rear are drum brakes cuz I have an ATX car....but 80% of your braking ability is in the front AFAIK I am pretty sure you'll love them as I do. I'll never buy another set of brake pads for any of my vehicles unless EBC doesn't make em ------------------ '98 Tropic Green Tour SE Sport V-6 ATX "I promise I wont modify it honey, it's a family car!"

OK will do. The fronts should be arriving today or tomorrow. One more question : How did you bed yours in??? In my previous car with Mintex M1144's I took it out and did about four hard stops from around 80km/h and then let them cool down. That seemed to work well (the smoke pouring off them was a bit of a worry though )

Got the pads- but they are the wrong ones....
Think I've got the ones from the earlier style calliper- mine is a 2000 model. Pretty funny seeing as there were never any earlier model V6 Mondeos sold over here, only four cylinder ones- so they wouldn't fit any Mondeo in the whole of Australia!!!
